MAGIC IS EVERYWHERE;
Every tree, stag and bird has magic flowing through it, around it, beneath it. The very earth is soaked in mystical energy released when the Thief rebelled against his equals and stole magic from their followers. The war his actions caused fueled the magical fire beneath our feet even more. The human mages who now command the world's magic manage to consume vast amounts of magic daily, without making the slightest dent in what remains.
Immortals, gods, Shariya, humans, dragons. They've all taken magic, and in return they lost their lives, their self. Magic takes no sides, it fights for brothers, mothers, daughters, sons, fathers - anyone with the ability can access magic, but without the necessary training it is deadly. HYBRID MAGES;
HYBRID EDUCATION;
Non-human or half-human mages have been unwelcome in Silyre since the Enclave was created, HUMAN MAGES;
The ability to use magic is a genetic trait, and the only difference between a powerful mage and one who can only learn is attitude. While most magical power comes from their heritage, the ability to use it, the willingness to learn it is part of their attitude. Most powerful mages are aggressive and confident,
A mage's staff is extremely fragile, especially for the more powerful mages SILYRE ENCLAVE;
During the first six months of study, mages are taught only how to channel energy. Depending on age, this may take longer than six months, but generally it's quite a simple process to learn. The time it takes is normally how long it takes to develop channelling as a natural reflex. Once they have proven this, mages will create their own staff. This staff is thought of as an anchor for the magic their bodies naturally collect (which will kill them if they do not get rid of it), and once the channelling habit is established by siphoning magic into - well, nowhere to be precise - mages are taught to channel it into their staff. It is taught this way to prevent untrained mages attempting to use magic.
Upon mastering channelling magic, mages will earn their first league ring. The second ring is earned when a staff is created and mages learn to anchor their magic to it. At this point, a mage could potentially leave the Enclave and survive, though they would have no knowledge of how to use this magic literally over-flowing out of them.
